Sting has revealed the Police may release new material.
The singer, who is currently midway through a world tour after the group reformed earlier this year, has refused to rule out the band making another studio album.
Sting also insists he will have the final decision on whether The Police – frontman Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers – stay together.
He said: “Perhaps we will stay together after the tour. You can’t predict. I’m sure the other two would love for us to record some new material.
“It’s just really a question of whether I feel inspired.”
The 56-year-old ‘Roxanne’ singer also revealed he agreed to the band’s reunion because he wanted to shock his fans.
Sting explained: “I resisted getting back together for around 20 years. I’ve had the other two phoning me up, promoters, the record company. And my instinct was always ‘no’.
“Then I woke up one morning and thought, ‘What am I going to do to surprise people, and surprise myself now?’ This reunion seemed as far in the opposite direction as I could go.”
The Police are set to earn $200 million from their world tour.
