Can i become a good bass player if i am self taught?
I just started playing bass and i want to be self taught. Will i become good without a private teacher?
you “can” do it without a teacher, if you have enuf talent, a great ear, a great sense of rhythm, and practice long and hard enuf
but you will progress much quicker, if you can find a good one on one teacher
he can show you things that books and videos can’t
he can watch your playing,
make sure that you don’t develop “bad habits”
See just how you are holding your hands, playing the notes etc
show you different styles of playing
Books n videos are good up to a point,
but they can’t answer questions, because they haven’t watched you play.
what ever you do, learn to listen to the drummer,
and timing is KING.
playing fast means NOTHING if you can’t do it in time, and with a “groove”.
